How do you select a printer, a scanner?

Printers are like anything else in your "stack" of Information Technologies. They can be high-maintenance snowflakes or frugal workhorses.

So how do you know which is which? Which does the best job?

Which paper to use?

Which printer will survive the next Windows® update?

Which will print documents that will not jam the feeders of scanners and copiers?

Which is really plug and play?

Which can be fixed rapidly?

Which prints from the cloud or a mobile device?

And which kind to get: individual or shared, local, network, or WiFi? Black or color?

Which will work reliably with inexpensive aftermarket toner cartridges?

Which cartridges to buy and how to recycle them at no cost?

Managing peripherals is not rocket science, but errors can be time consuming.

You can and should do some research, but real knowledge here comes through time. We can't guess what only time will tell. You need a CIO or IT Manager who is in touch with these simple realities.
